Restoration Madness Continues

We've got three big projects going on if you want to help.

Catch Up with the Steam Team

Steam Team Project Head Jack Sheppard shows off one of the lastest replacement parts he fixed up himself.

The Steam Team is plugging along quite nicely. But we have room for more volunteer help to get this project finished in time for the Hood River 4th of July Parade.

Requirements to volunteer on the project? You don't mind getting dirty, you hold a museum membership, and you have a little time.  Give us a call join in the fun. This is a once in a life time opportunity. (How often does one get to restore a steam tractor?)

Peek into the Swallow's Nest

The Swallow airplane's wings are being re-done.

Since Saturday January 11th, museum volunteers Dale Young, Doug Davee, Bob Madsen, Mark Johnson, and Jay Bell have started working on WAAAM's next bi-plane restoration project, a 1928 OX-5 powered Swallow that was donated last year by Dick Pingrey. As of February 1st the wings were covered, stitched, and taped, and the new control cables had been spliced by Mark Baxter (AKA Bucky the cable guy).

We've just got the wings to do on this Swallow Project Plane. As can be seen in the pictures the fuselage and tail was finished when it was donated so this project will entail  covering, painting, and installing the wings, overhauling and installing the engine and engine cowl, and rigging.

Coming Soon: WAAAM Theatre Marquee

Here's the latest shot of our theater sign. Our theater marquee is coming along too! As you can see in this picture all of the panels are off and are currently being finished. We're going to need a lot of help putting them back onto the sign and ironing out some finishing touches. Our goal is to have this project done by May so if you don't want to miss out be sure to give us a call to have your hand in restoring some Hood River history.

Return to home.
