WAAAM's World War Two Studebaker Weasel driving in the snow. Year: WWII

Donor: Terry Brandt

Number of Doors:

Curb Weight in Lbs:

During World War II Studebaker engineers worked with the Office of Scientific Research and Development to produce their M29C Cargo Carrier - better known as the Weasel. Weasels got their nickname for their stealth, swiftness, and sure-footedness in all types of terrains. Old advertisements proudly proclaimed that the Weasel was at home in the water as it was on sand, mud, swamps or solid ground. Our Weasel was designed for high maneuverability in the snows of Norway. As part of a feel-good campaign by Studebaker on the home front to help increase civil support and funding for their war vehicles Studebaker relied heavily on a letter a Studebaker employee-turned-soldier wrote to his factory friends back home: “While still on the beach [Normandy], I saw one thing that made me feel good and think of you guys. It was a Studebaker Weasel going up and down between all the fire carrying wounded boys to a hospital area. That work of you fellows helped to save many a soldier’s life.” This vehicle was donated by Terry Brandt.
