American Eagle B-31 Eaglet

See a 1931 American Eagle B-31 Eaglet at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum. Year: 1931

Donation: Terry Brandt

Engine: Szekley SR-3 45HP

Designed by American Eagle as Everyman's Airplane, this two-seat airplane was conventionally-built with a steel tube fuselage and wood wings. It didn’t have the look of a “flivver-plane,” even though that’s what it was. It was tall enough to be easy to get in and out of which was a real plus for airplanes of its type. While it could cruise at 75 MPH, it landed at a sedate 25 MPH. The production rights passed through a number of owners over the years and a modernized version of the Eaglet was built during the 1960’s.
